The Sare BearŽ is medium sized, golden in color, with a gold ribbon tied around its neck. The stuffed bears are soft and cuddly, and they are weighted with beans in their bottoms and paws. The bears' feet paws are the perfect size to be held in the hand, and the hand paws have a small thumb. The back of the head is the size of a woman's hand. As a special honor to Sara Campbell, each bear displays the Sara's Smile, Inc. logo--two S's with three dots making a smile--embroidered in gold thread on the left foot. Every bear carries a condolence card for the hurting parents, which can be personalized by the hospital staff.

Sara's Smile, Inc. is a nonprofit organization comforting bereaved parents with a Sare BearŽ. In May 1998 following a brief illness Sara Campbell, 20 years of age, passed away. Because of two miscarried pregnancies for Sara's mother, Kim, it would be the third time that the Campbell family would go home from the hospital with empty arms due to the death of a child.

Although many hospitals have some type of grieving program the parents still leave the hospital in a state of shock, with empty arms, leaving their beloved deceased child behind.

Sara's Smile, Inc. desires to give the mommies something nice to hold, to help her go out those hospital doors and get through those first agonizing nights. The Sare BearŽ is meant to cuddle and cry with.

It is also a difficult time for the hospital staff. Sara's Smile, Inc. allows the nurses an opportunity to present a Sare BearŽ to the mommies, which helps them both.

After Sara Campbell went home to be with her Lord, Sara's mother with the help and support of her family created Sara's Smile, Inc. because they felt mommies should never leave hospitals empty-handed. Dan and Kim with their son Roman worked together to create Sara's Smile, Inc. in honor of their Sara, whom they called "Sare BearŽ."

A Sare BearŽ is given to mommies who miscarry a pregnancy, deliver a still born baby, or whose pediatric child passes away. Sara's Smile, Inc. works closely with hospital auxiliaries to distribute each Sare BearŽ.

The bears will be provided to bereaved parents in hospitals nationwide.
